Luis Zapata is an experienced soccer coach with 13 years of coaching experience across youth and competitive soccer. He has coached with Cougars Colorado, Weston FC, Miami Beach FC, PSG Academy, and Key Biscayne Soccer Club, as well as serving as an Assistant Coach at Atlantis University. Luis has also held the position of Sub-Director at Key Biscayne Soccer Club.
His coaching philosophy emphasizes player development, individual improvement, teamwork, discipline, and long-term growth. Luis is passionate about helping young players develop their skills, confidence, and character both on and off the field while guiding them toward reaching their full potential.
Before coaching, Luis had 16 years of playing experience and competed at the professional level. His career included Millonarios FC, Deportivo Cali, Deportivo Pereira, América de Cali, Caracas FC, Jorge Wilstermann, Deportivo Pasto, Colorado Rapids, Chicago Fire, Miami Fusion, and Fort Lauderdale Strikers. His playing career included competition in Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, and the United States.
Among his playing accomplishments, Luis won championships with Deportivo Pasto and Miami Fusion.
Fun Fact: Family man
Favorite Soccer Memory: Scoring the winning goal against São Paulo of Brazil in Millonarios’ 1–0 victory during the 2007 Copa Nissan Sudamericana, helping Millonarios advance to the semifinals.
