Dear KBSC Community,

Welcome to the start of a great 2025-26 season. Our club has evolved considerably over the last few years to become one of the top clubs in South Florida, playing at the highest levels, while allowing every player to develop to their fullest potential.  We have reorganized our club to reflect the growing demands of competition and age-specific training across all our programs.  The Competitive Team program will continue under the leadership of Jimmy Asprilla (Technical Director & DOC), plus three Assistant DOCs to supervise 3 groups:

Mario Ferro: Girls U9-U14

Luis Zapata: Boys U8-U12

Daniel Abarca: Boys U13-U19

Each Assistant DOC will focus on specific age groups this year, allowing us to individualize and emphasize player development.  In addition, the JR Academy program continue to be trained by Competitive coaches, implementing our training model,  and preparing our players who wish to transition into the Competitive program.

Pichi Acosta will continue to lead all of our intramural/recreational programs, including the Pre-Academy and PeeWee programs.  Jorge Mazo will assist as Assistant DOC of the Recreational programs.  The club has developed an age-specific development methodology for ages 3 to 18. The focus will be on developing technically superior players and incorporating a more demanding physical fitness regimen.

Competitive Teams

Competitive teams will continue to face the challenge of limited field space, and the number of teams will stay flat at 36.

This season, with the promotion of our boys teams to play in the National Academy League and Florida Academy League (MLS), we changed the names of our teams to reflect their skill level:

U9-U19 Academy

U9-U17 Elite

U9-U16 Premier

Our Competitive Boys Academy teams will be challenged with a rigorous league schedule, playing in two leagues.  The  U13 and up were invited to play in the National League Team - Premier 1 and National League Club - Premier 2 leagues (previously known as Sunshine Conference Academy League).   The Boys U9-U12 teams will play in the EDP league.  Our Girls U13 Elite team accepted an invitation to play in the National League Team - Premier 1.  All other girls teams will play in the EDP league.  We will push our players with high-intensity practice sessions and design practices each week to address the progressive development of our players at all skill levels. We are proud of the quality of our coaches and strive to find continuous improvement to make our club stronger.

Evaluations

We will perform a minimum of two evaluations per player during the season, assessing talent, intelligence, skill, maturity, teamwork, attitude, respect, and personal character. A player’s development will dictate how they move up or down in their age group throughout the season. The rosters throughout the season will remain fluid, and the decisions to move players will be made on a case-by-case basis, supported by evaluations. There may be occasions when a player will be invited to guest play or move permanently to fill a need/opening on a team.  As we evaluate players, the composition of the roster may change.  Our coaching staff and directors will evaluate team progress and select the appropriate league, cup, and tournament levels to achieve the best developmental results.

Teams selections will be merit based.  They will not be chosen because…

  1.          They are best friends.
  2.          They attend the same school.
  3.          The parents get along and want to keep the group together.

We know that the club/directors/coaches' decisions may not agree with parents’ or players’ opinions, but parents and players should respect the process. If a parent would like to discuss their player’s selection on a particular team, they should make an appointment to speak directly with the coach and/or our Directors.

All Programs

Development is the #1 priority for our club.  We will put extra focus on the girls’ development in Recreation and Competitive Travel, making sure that our coaches work on the fundamentals and allow them to have more touches with the ball.  Our boys have tremendous depth across all age groups. We will promote a style of play that focuses on technical dominance, possession football, high intensity, and pressure defense for all programs.

Each year, we set high expectations for all of our programs.  As our club competes at the highest levels at State Cup, Regionals, and National tournaments, we will do our best to provide support and expertise to achieve a higher level of play.  Players must conduct themselves at practices and games at the highest standard.  That’s why we are going to emphasize RESPECT and DISCIPLINE this season.  We must adhere to the principles of good conduct, even when we are challenged by other undisciplined players and coaches who try to provoke bad behavior.  All players and parents must manage their emotions and respect their teammates, opponents, referees, and other parents during the season.  We will not tolerate disrespect and poor behavior.  Our staff will review all red cards issued and self-impose discipline on anyone who does not conduct themselves properly.  Repeat offenders may be asked to leave the club.

We want to wish everyone in the KB community a healthy and fantastic season.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Pichi Acosta, Director of Coaching
